Recycle your Christmas Tree at Texas Discovery Gardens!

Recycle your Christmas tree to help enrich Texas Discovery Gardens' landscaping plans for 2009. We will chip the trees and use their mulch throughout the Gardens.

You may drop off your live, green Christmas tree at one of two Dallas locations:
Texas Discovery Gardens (follow signs to Ranger Circle) and Preservation Tree Services - 6721 Maple Avenue (just north of Mockingbird Lane).

Trees will be accepted weekdays between December 26 and January 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All ornaments, tinsel, lights, nails and stands need to be removed prior to dropping off.

Mulch is an excellent way to help trees and plantings retain moisture, protect themselves against the cold, and absorb necessary nutrients. Keep the spirit going…put that tree to good use!

Construction Corner

The butterflies are coming! The Grand Opening for the Rosine Smith Sammons Butterfly House and Insectarium is September 12! Construction of our spiral staircase in the Conservatory has begun. Terrazzo floors have been poured and finished. We ordered tropical plants in the Conservatory. They will be planted in February. The elevator is being put in.

About Our Gardens

Located at historic Fair Park in Dallas, Texas Discovery Gardens is a year-round urban oasis filled with natural wonders for visitors of all ages. Ten different themed areas include a butterfly habitat, native wildlife pond, scent garden, shade garden and heirloom garden.

At family events offered throughout the year, children and parents can share the experience of being amazed and inspired by nature's intricate web of life. Gardening workshops and guided tours provide expert advice on using native and adapted plants to create backyard habitats for butterflies, birds and other native wildlife.

At Texas Discovery Gardens, visitors discover a wealth of information on ways to restore, conserve and preserve natural environments in urban areas.
